Volume 19

December, 2009

 Number 2

Sheilagh, Mickie and Elvin would like to wish everyone a very safe and happy holiday season.

The 24th Annual BC Bowls for Kids campaign is early this year.  The start date was December 1 and will run until January 15.  Variety, The Children's Charity Annual Telethon is also early this year due to the Winter Olympics.  It will be held on January 30 and 31 at the Red Robinson Theatre in Coquitlam.  Of course proprietors and bowlers will again be answering the telephones the night of January 30 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have supported this campaign over the last 23 years.  We have contributed over $2,370,000 to help the special kids of BC.

Please join Honourary Chair Norm Grohmann along with Global BC's Wesla Wong in supporting this great cause.  It is easy - just sign up at your local bowling centre and start collecting pledges.

In Memory

Ernie Digney, Digney Bowl in Burnaby passed away on November 27, 2009.  Ernie was one of bowling's biggest contributors and builders, from youth bowlers, to tournament bowlers, to volunteer organizations, to his family and friends.  He was President of the Bowling Proprietors' Association of BC in 1962, 1963, 1965, 1966 and 1978.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time.
